Confession Of A Work-At-Home Control Freak

Trying to control too much, for a work at home business owner, can lead to ruination of both personal and working life.

Not everything is under your control. This is the very statement that I’ve said to myself over and over again ever since I’ve started working from home. One note to those who wish to start their own home-based business, please, please, please….heed my advice. Learn to draw the line between home and work because they’re supposed to be completely different worlds. You can’t live your life properly if you’re working and living at the same time. Work, no matter how passionate you are about it, is not meant to creep into your life. You’re supposed to put it into a separate drawer in your cabinet….imagine your life to be a cabinet. One drawer for your personal life, and then another drawer for your working life. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

What’s with control and working-from-home?
LOTS, if you ask me! You need to be in control of your work in order to make a profit. You need to be in control so that your kids do well in school. You need to be in control so that you don’t accidentally shred important documents. If you’re working from home, you’ll find yourself trying to be control of everything and that can’t happen.

It can’t happen now and it can’t happen any time in the future. Accept the fact that if you want everything to be working out properly, you’ll need to relinquish some of that control and let others take over.

What happens when you try to control everything?
Everything collapses, that’s the answer. Because we’re not made to be in control of everything that we do, see, experience, feel and situations that happens to us, we shouldn’t even try to. Working from home could mean the best of both worlds…but don’t forget, you’re also getting the worst of both worlds.

To prevent your ship from sinking, you’ll need to learn to let some things go. Unless you have someone else who can take over some parts of your work or home life, then you’re going to have to accept the fact that nothing in your working-at-home environment is ever going to be perfecto.

Nothing.

A ruined working life and a ruined home life
When one tries to take control of everything, that person would and can only expect one thing….ruination of both personal and work life simply because the fine line between work and life has been blurred. In reality, the ideal is for people to work for a living and then LIVE. With a blurred line between home and work, how is one expected to live well and work well.

Be aware and conscious of what you’re trying to control
Is it worth trying so hard to control something that you can’t? Think about it. At what expense? Before you throw yourself into your home office business, try to remember that you’ll always have to be aware of priorities and the sacrifices that you’re willing to make in order for you to control that part of your life or work. Something’s got to give somehow, somewhere and really, it’s really up to you to decide, what part of your home business has to give way.

ABCs for the Work at Home Mom - Part 2

Below is the second in the series of tips to help work-at-home moms in the simplest of ways - the ABC’s.

Work-at-home moms face many different challenges. From learning to accept help when needed, to building confidence in ourselves, to remembering the reasons why we chose to work from home. Below is the second in the series of tips to help work-at-home moms in the simplest of ways - the ABC’s.

N = No - Work at Home Moms need to be able to say "No" when the situation calls for it. Don’t be afraid to stand up for your business or to choose NOT to work with a customer who is more trouble than it’s worth.

O = Office - As Work at Home Moms, we usually put ourselves last on the list. However, when we’re in business it’s important to have some room (even a corner) that is set aside strictly for business.

P = Priorities - It’s hard to keep your priorities straight when raising a family and building a business. Take some time each week/month to sit down and evaluate your priorities and cut out things in your schedule that don’t fit in.

Q = Quiet Time - It may seem impossible to find a time to sit, relax and be quiet when you have so many demands on your time. However, it’s more important than ever that you take a little time for yourself to rejuvenate and renew when you grow weary.

R = Respect - Like the golden rule says, it’s important to treat others as we’d like to be treated. This is so true for work at home moms - we must show the utmost in professionalism and treat even the most difficult clients with respect.

S = Significant Other - As work at home moms it’s easy to get wrapped up with our business, our kids, ourselves. Don’t forget to take the time to appreciate your husbands!

T = Time - As work-home-moms time is the ultimate enemy. :) Learn to prioritize and delegate whenever possible. Take time out for your kids each day - you’ll be glad you did!

U = Unique - Your business needs to be unique to stand out from the crowd. Even if your product isn’t unique you can always find a unique way to approach marketing, customer service, etc. Get creative and stand out from the rest!

V = Vision - It’s so important to have a clear vision of where you want your business to go. Sit down and make a list of where you’d like to be in 5 years, in 10 years, etc. Without goals you won’t get anywhere.

W = Wisdom - It’s important to seek wisdom when running your own business. You won’t always know the answer, so you need to find others that you trust that you can turn to when these things arise.

X = eXcitement - Celebrate each success! Keep yourself motivated and excited about your business. Try to share your business with someone new each day. Just telling someone about what you do can bring back that "spark" of excitement about your career!

Y = Yes - Yes! You CAN do it! Each of us started with a dream, a vision and the faith that we could make it happen. It takes hard work, determination and a "Yes!" attitude, but it CAN be done!

Z = Zoo - Yes, life as a work at home mom really is a zoo, but it’s worth it! Being at home to see your child’s first step, hear their first word - it just doesn’t get better than that.

Working from home can be difficult, but it is well worth the effort. By keeping things in perspective we can reduce the stress that we put on ourselves. Remember these ABC’s and you’ll go far in your work-at-home career.

Reduction of expenses is one of the main reasons why people decide to work from home. This article offers tips to save money, for the uninitiated. So read on and learn how!

One of the reasons why many people decide to work from home is to reduce expenses. Yet, it’s easy to move from a corporate setting to a home based office and continue to spend as if you were leaving the house every day for extended periods. There are many ways to save money from your home office, some are passive and some are active. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to make significant savings in your daily expenses to help protect the income you’ve gained through your home-based business. Here are some tips to get you started:

Tax benefits

The usual warnings apply here, but there are many tax savings you will find when you work from home. Part of your home that is dedicated to your office can be a business expense. Your property taxes, telephone line, electricity and other utilities can all be prorated as personal or office use and claimed as business expense where appropriate. If your vehicle is being used as a business vehicle, you may be able to claim not only the fuel and maintenance expenses, but depreciation of the vehicle. The important thing to remember about tax items is that you can never have too much documentation about the expenses you will claim on the annual tax return.

Wholesale

Many individuals who work from home are able to apply for and receive wholesale prices on inventory items and well as office supplies. Sometimes the price breaks are for larger volumes of the supplies purchased, but other times you can purchase in standard sized packaging and still retain the price breaks. If you must purchase in larger volumes to receive the price break, you must take into consideration the usage volume of the items. In these days of higher fuel prices, make sure that you factor in the fuel costs when deciding whether the wholesale business site is worthwhile to go to.

Transportation

It is entirely possible that you will be able to dispense with your lengthy commutes when you work from home. Depending on whether you drive an SUV or a moped, you can save not only money on fuel, but time spent on the road which is rarely productive time. Your fuel, insurance, maintenance, tires, and parking fees are all reduced significantly or eliminated entirely by using your telephone or Internet instead of your vehicle to stay in contact with the workday world. Your vehicle won’t need to be replaced as often. You may even be able to discard one vehicle.

Time is money

When you work from home, you’ll find that you can save money in many areas, simply because you are able to make something rather than purchase it. An example of this is food. You won’t need to stop for fast food. Tasty and nutritious meals can be prepared from scratch and they won’t be as expensive as the prepackaged meals. If you have used a cleaning service or a lawn care service in the past, use the time you would have spent commuting and do the work yourself.

All these ideas are just a start to set you on the way to a more economical lifestyle.

If you want to earn money working at home, then Work from Home or Work at Home would help you do the same. All you need to do is go to the site and surf through the various options. Get a Free Report now to learn more!

Data Entry Work at Home - Dos and Don’ts

Data entry work at home means understanding and working within some guidelines although they tend to be less restrictive in nature. Here are a few commonsense rules to consider.

Those who have been doing data entry work at home for any length of time realize that there are things about the home based work opportunity that can cause problems for you if you aren’t aware of the pitfalls. Being cognizant of the difficulties and dangers and making plans to avoid them will help you to have a smooth transition from corporate worker bee to home based entrepreneur. Most of the suggestions of things to do and things to avoid are simple common sense items. Being aware of possible potholes in your career path will help you to negotiate the dangers more efficiently.

Do pick your jobs

When you are first getting into data entry work at home either as a full-income replacement or as a part-time income supplement, you may feel that you must take anything you can get, reasoning that you will manage to do the work, somehow. You are much wiser to recognize that the learning curve is in effect with this type of work, too so you should start by holding back a little. Know your strong points where work is concerned and don’t let the desire for immediately replacing income allow you to agree to do jobs which you have neither the experience nor the time to complete. Your reputation will suffer if you commit to work you cannot do.

Do pay attention to deadlines

Often data entry work at home comes with fairly strict deadlines for completion. If you accept the work, you are also committing to get it done on time as agreed. Particularly if you are new at this type of work, or if you have accepted a new client that you do not know well, you should be cautious about rushing the work to meet a deadline. Instead, allow for a longer return time before agreeing to the work, or alternatively, have back up personnel standing by to help you out in a pinch.

Don’t overestimate your capabilities

When you first begin doing data entry work at home, you should stick to work that you know and have done before. In other words, don’t take on a job doing medical transcription if you have no knowledge of the terminology. There are so many different types of data entry jobs, you are certain to find something that will fit within your comfort and experience range. Remember, your future opportunity to complete more data entry work will depend on the reputation you develop.

Don’t forget to proofread

No matter what type of data entry work at home that you do, be particularly careful about your level of accuracy. Nothing less than perfect documents should be the goal you set for yourself. If you are not good at catching and correcting errors in your own work, you would be wise to ask someone to proofread the document for you before sending it off to the client. You owe it to your clients to create work that looks professional and doesn’t contain errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation.

Why SEO Copywriting is the Perfect High-Paying Work-from-Home Job With Huge Growth Potential

SEO copywriting is the perfect high-paying, work-from-home job with huge growth potential. If you’ve ever considered starting a freelance writing career, or want to find an ideal work-from-home job that pays well, SEO copywriting is it. Following is why.

Internet marketers are beginning to value the services of professional SEO copywriters who know their stuff, so to speak. And, it’s no wonder. The growth in online advertising is exploding and junk content (ie, $5 per article content providers) just doesn’t drive traffic — and convert prospects into buyers — the way professionally written content does.

Internet Marketing: The Growth Explosion of Online Advertising

Professional SEO copywriters will be in great demand for years to come, if the following is anything to go by:

According to a 2007 ZenithOptimedia report, online advertising will hit three milestones in the coming years: (i) it will surpass radio ad spending in 2008; (ii) it will make up a double-digit share of global advertising in 2009; and (iii) it will surge pass s magazine ad spending in 2010.

And, this may be the most shocking statistic of all when it comes to the growth of online advertising: "We forecast it to grow 24% in 2008 and 69% over the next three years, reaching US$61 billion in 2010. We forecast the traditional media to grow 5% and 14% respectively over the same periods." [Source: ZenithOptimedia December 2007 Press Release, Market to accelerate in 2008 despite credit squeeze (Learn more at ZenithOptimedia dot com)]

With this kind of money pouring into the market, internet marketers are going to rely on SEO copywriters who really understand the intricacies of web marketing. A relatively new niche, it is rapidly expanding profession.

SEO copywriting is paying huge dividends for those who are savvy enough to start building a reputation while it the industry is in its infancy. Learning about keyword density, long-tail keywords, foundational content, link building, etc. are all part of knowing how to write SEO content that is not only grammatically correct, but helps the search engines to drive traffic.

And, driving traffic and converting customers is what internet marketing is all about. SEO copywriters who know how to speak this language to potential clients will be the ones who position themselves to take advantage of the explosive growth that is already underway in online advertising.

Basics to Look for in an SEO Copywriter

If you’re a company looking to hire an SEO copywriter, following are a few guidelines:

1. Do They Understand Search Engine Optimization (SEO): When you mention things like keyword phrases, inbound links, article marketing and long-tail keywords, are they able to speak the language.

If the SEO copywriter you’re thinking of hiring doesn’t grasp the basics, continue your search.

2. Services Offered: An SEO copywriter’s service list will clue you in as to how knowledgeable the are about the industry. If they offer meta tag writing, for example, then you know they have some behind-the-scenes knowledge, over and above good writing skills.

3. SEO Writing Samples: Every freelance writer should have writing samples they can show you. Professional ones will have them on their website.

These are beginning basics you should look for when hiring an SEO copywriter.

If you’re an aspiring SEO copywriter, these are the basics to get in place before you start marketing for clients. SEO copywriting is not hard; it’s just a field that takes some studying. Once SEO writing concepts are grasped, they can be turned into a very lucrative freelance writing career (ie, $25-$100 or more for 350-500 word SEO articles).

Work-From-Home Data-Entry Jobs With Training Provided

Multiple Streams of Income

Moms today live busy lives trying to keep up with going to work, children and managing the home, find out why working from home is a perfect fit for moms.

In the past, the role of women in society has been centered on the house, chores and children. A mother is expected to take the upper hand looking after the children while contributing to the betterment of the family. The rat race in which human beings are involved in these days suggests, she cannot only assume the natural duties of the mother such as looking after her children, but also should contribute financially in order to fuel the two income family model. Failure to do so may tighten up the economy of the family and might mean they have to live with hardships. However performing this dual role and being over-burdened with work, seems to take over the lives of modern day moms.

So why not consider the alternative of working at home?

Consider the typical case of a mother who gave birth to a child recently and has to go back to work. As moms we have to face the emotional challenge that goes with such a decision. You may have had a successful career but can you sacrifice the quality time you can spend with your child for that. As a mother your heart is against it. However the figures should also add up at the end of the month. Further if you are over-burdened with bills, you may have no other option. But isn’t there any other way?

Let’s think about another scenario, a stay at home mom with relatively older children. She has ample free-time which she can utilize to earn a few bucks to ease the pressure of her spouse. At least this will allow her some degree of independence being not entirely dependent on her husband. Further this may allow her to get rid of the routine chores of her day and engage in something she likes such as writing, and still get paid for it.

On the other hand job security is a thing of the past, now that there are thousands of layoffs and downsizing being exercised on a daily basis. The statistics will show you that women are the worst hit class. So any income generating activity you can engage at home is highly valued in today’s context. Many people ask this question and maybe you also have already thought about it. "Can you earn the same amount staying at home?" The answer is two fold. It is a yes and a no. While I agree on the possibility of getting similar financial rewards, I should also acknowledge the fact that it is not achievable overnight. In other words you’ll not get the same income from the very fist day you start working at home. Maybe you will get very limited income as you start up, unless you are able to get in with a company right off the bat.

In time, working from home will definitely be worth it. You’ll be able to be at home with your children, manage the home and bring in an income.

The new job bank at Bizymoms.com is free for job seekers. Visitors have the option of registering and submitting their resume, which will be seen by hundreds of work at home employers.

What You Should Consider Before Taking Up a Work From Home Job

auction work at home The Main Drawbacks To Being A WAHM

Make Money by Submitting Photos To The Internet

Working at home is one of the fastest growing trends in careers today. However, many people jump on the Wahm bandwagon without considering all of the drawbacks to working at home. While some people are naturally inclined to work at home, others find the transition more difficult to make. There are many benefits to working at home, but the drawbacks need to be considered before you make the choice.

The first drawback to looking for a work at home career is that your current career may not easily transfer to a work at home situation. If you work in the medical field or are a police officer, being a Wahm might not be an easy transition unless you are willing to change careers entirely. Sales and administrative positions transfer well, as do creative jobs like design and writing. For those in jobs that can’t make the work at home switch, you’ll have to think carefully about what you want to do when start working at home and start investigating that field.

Cost is another important factor in deciding if working at home is right for you. Although many mothers start working at home to save on childcare, there are added costs to being a Wahm. If you need health insurance, it will have to come out of your pocket instead of being paid by your employers. There are also many taxes that you will have to pay. Your record keeping must be excellent in order to keep track of your income and expenses, and to fill out your income tax return at the end of the year.

Working at home with children is not always as easy as it seems. If you have young children that aren’t in school yet, it may be difficult to work when they are awake. This can mean lots of busy naptimes and late nights to get your projects done when they are sleeping. Family members can help take care of your children from time to time, but the responsibility of both your children and your job will be firmly in your hands. With older children, it is sometimes easier to work from home. But you will still have to start and maintain a fairly balanced schedule in order to get everything done.

Wahms have to be very self-motivated and disciplined in order to get their work done on time and correctly. If you are the type of person that is motivated by outside factors (such as a supervisor), then working at home may not be your cup of tea. When you work at home, there is no one there to look over your shoulder and make sure that you are still working. Distractions like the television, Internet and housework can be hindrances to your work at home success.

Isolation is another problem for Wahms. Working at home alone can get frustrating and lonely. Make sure you are comfortable with spending time alone, and that you take steps to combat isolation. If you are especially prone to being depressed, then the isolation that comes with working at home may make you feel withdrawn and sad. Taking steps to combat loneliness is an important part of any Wahm’s success.

After considering these factors, you may decide that working at home is not right for you. However, thousands of people deal with these drawbacks and still have successful work at home careers. These reasons should not stop you from becoming a Wahm if that is really what you want to do. Just make sure you understand the realities of the work at home lifestyle before you commit to it.

Here’s to your being a "Work At Home Mom" success

Multiple Streams of Income

If you are smart and creative there are many free work from home employment ideas and opportunities that you can choose from to start a career or build a business. The first idea that you can cash on is the prospect of writing, editing, or proof reading. Of course, for that you need to have talent. If you have written neat stories, crisp essays, or spiffy letters any time during your school days or career you can try writing. A degree in English literature or journalism automatically qualifies you for a career in writing from home.

However, the beauty of writing from home is that it requires very little qualification. Only that you should be good at writing, and have basic grammar skills.
